Catalog of State and Federal Mandates on Local Governments  

The latest edition of the Catalog of State and Federal Mandates on Local Governments was published in November 2007.  The Catalog provides an inventory of all state and federal mandates on local governments identified as of the end of Fiscal Year 2006-07.  Each mandate has a separate entry containing a brief description of the mandated action, identification of the type of mandate, name of the administering agency, citations of statutory and regulatory authority, and information regarding the assessment of the mandate.  The Catalog contains an index listing the mandates administered by each state agency.

The Catalog is available for downloading here.  In electronic form, the Catalog contains 366 pages, and Adobe Acrobat Reader software is required to view the document.

Hard copies of the Catalog are also available.  If you would like to order the document, mail a check made payable to Treasurer of Virginia for $15.00 per copy (includes postage) to:  Department of Housing and Community Development, Commission on Local Government, 501 N. 2nd Street, Richmond, VA 23219-1321.
