Local Innovation Program

Virginia Community Development Block Grant (VCDBG) funding totaling $1,500,000 is reserved for innovative, small-scale pilot projects which include Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) eligible activities, meet a CDBG national objective, and are designed in accordance with the CDBG Program Design.

Individual Development Account programs, loan funds to support economic restructuring, telecommunications projects, and projects which support local or regional welfare-to-work initiatives are both options for Local Innovation Program funding. 

Up to $200,000 is available per project.   Proposals that meet these minimum thresholds will be accepted on an open basis from January through September of each year, with specific dates announced each year.
