Main Street Resource Publications

The Virginia Main Street program offers a wide variety of materials to educate communities about successful revitalization strategies and connect them to organizations that can provide further targeted assistance. Below is a listing of the resource materials available. 

  1. Getting Started:  If you are creating a local preservation-based downtown revitalization organization, or reinvigorating an existing one, here are some recommended steps to get a successful program established.
  1. Main Street Presentations and Audiovisual Guide:  Browse our full inventory of nearly 200 audiovisual materials online. All materials are available for a loan period of up to three weeks, and there is no cost other than return shipping.
  1. Program Guidelines : Links to a complete description of how to participate in the Virginia Main Street Program.
  1. Resources for Virginia Downtowns:  Click here for an introductory reference guide to the most frequently used resources for the revitalization of Virginia's commercial districts. Includes brief explanations and contact information on financial incentives, loan and grant programs, and sources of technical and financial assistance
  2. Technical Resource Organizations: Click here for a list of state and national organizations that provide technical assistance on a wide array of topics pertinent to downtown development, with contact phone numbers and websites.
