Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program

The federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides funding to assist in the payment of heating bills, and to provide emergency heating assistance in cases where the heating system is inoperable or unsafe, or in cases where utility cut-off is imminent.

LIHEAP also prevents or alleviates cooling emergencies during periods of extreme heat.  For information about other assistance programs available under LIHEAP, including fuel assistance, crisis assistance, and cooling assistance, visit: http://www.dss.virginia.gov/benefit/ea/index.html.

For more information, contact Weatherization@dhcd.virginia.gov.
