Competitive Grants are awarded following an application, evaluation and review process. The purpose of the Competitive Grants program is to aid eligible localities in implementing projects that will most directly impact the greatest needs of the community. There are five primary project types under the Competitive Grant option:
- Comprehensive Community Development
- Economic Development
- Community Facility
- Community Service Facility
Proposals are accepted annually and will be due in 2013 on March 27 by 5 p.m. Proposals are reviewed in April and May, and the announcement of Competitive Grant offers occurs in June. Note that all proposals must be submitted using the agency’s Centralized Application and Management System (CAMS). Please contact DHCD with any questions or to discuss your proposal.
Units of local government in non-entitlement localities are the only eligible recipients of VCDBG funding. Localities may partner with planning district commissions, nonprofit organizations and other entities to undertake project activities.
