Moving from Foster Care to Adulthood Pilot -How to Apply Webinar

In 2016, the Virginia General Assembly established the Fostering Futures program to provide extended foster care supports for up to three years for those aging out of foster care. While transitioning to adulthood, in addition to other supports, participants in the Fostering Futures program receive $700/month to cover basic living expenses. Program participants may choose to remain in the foster family home or live independently while working on school/employment goals.

The Moving from Foster Care to Adulthood Rental Assistance Pilot was created to provide up to three years of tenant based rental assistance (TBRA) to Fostering Futures program participants, in addition to the $700/month living expenses, in two high cost markets (Richmond city and Charlottesville/Albemarle) to help stabilize housing options for participants during this critical transition period. Department of Housing and Community Development in partnership with the Department of Social Service is seeking a subrecipient (s) to administer a TBRA program that is targeted to Fostering Futures program participants in Richmond city and/or Charlottesville/Albemarle.
