Funding through the Virginia Community Development Block Grant may be used by eligible units of local government to improve low- to moderate-occupied housing units. CDBG assistance is also available in support of the development of new single- and multi-family housing units targeted for low- and moderate-income persons. Assistance is targeted for a defined cluster of housing, not scattered site.

CDBG Competitive Grants

Available to support Comprehensive Community Development projects where a number of community needs, including housing, are addressed, as a single activity Housing rehabilitation projects, or to help with the creation of new affordable housing units through Housing Production Assistance.

CDBG Planning Grants

Support for developing clearly-articulated strategies for identifying and addressing their greatest community development needs.
