The Jack A. Proctor Virginia Building Code Academy delivers administrative and technical code training programs for mandated certification requirements for over 3,500 statewide professional certifications in various code enforcement disciplines including code official, inspection and plan review. Most of the programs required for certification are multi-day and are offered throughout the calendar year in various locations across the state. In addition to the mandated training, the academy periodically offers a number of specialized training events on topics that are pertinent or relative to current issues in the code enforcement industry.

Eligibility

All training programs offered through the Jack A Proctor Virginia Building Code Academy are available to local government and third party code enforcement personnel seeking certification. Priority is given to those required to obtain certification per the Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC). For many code enforcement personnel employed by a levy contributing locality, there are no tuition costs, however, tuition may apply for those not employed by a contributing locality. Classes are open to non-enforcement individuals based on availability, and tuition may apply.

Course descriptions, training schedule, course registration and course payment as well as policies, forms and relative documents are located on the Online Registration System. In addition to the course registration, the Online Registration System houses all training and certification history and application. Those seeking attendance at an academy program must first establish a user account or profile on the online system.
