 RICHMOND, VA — Governor Abigail Spanberger today announced more than $6.2 million in Growth and Opportunity for Virginia (GO Virginia) grants to support four strategic projects that advance critical industries, strengthen regional collaboration, and expand economic opportunity for Virginians.

Projects Will Spur Economic Growth, Support 1000+ Businesses, & Provide 11,500 Families With New or Improved Infrastructure

Governor Abigail Spanberger today announced the recommendation of 19 projects and letters of intent for 3 projects totaling $8,397,277 through the 2026 Virginia Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) program, supporting infrastructure improvements, job creation, small-business support, downtown revitalization, and workforce development across Southwest Virginia.  

Funding Will Boost Long-Term Recovery After Tropical Storm Helene Damaged Localities in Southwest Virginia

Governor Abigail Spanberger today announced $7.3 million in disaster relief grants to Giles and Washington counties and the Town of Fries to support long-term recovery after Tropical Storm Helene caused widespread damage and destruction in Southwest Virginia in 2024.

Governor Abigail Spanberger today announced more than $15.3 million in Growth and Opportunity for Virginia (GO Virginia) grants to support a new portfolio of projects across the Commonwealth focused on workforce development, advanced manufacturing, unmanned systems, life sciences, and site development.

Investments Will Support Infrastructure Projects in Portsmouth, Norfolk, and Newport News 

Governor Abigail Spanberger today announced $1.53 million through the Port Host Communities Revitalization Fund to renovate buildings in Norfolk and Portsmouth and repair aging infrastructure in Newport News. The investments will help create new spaces for small businesses, support Virginia's manufacturing industry, and revitalize infrastructure essential to sustaining local seafood and maritime industries. 
 

Funding will support community organizations that provide permanent housing and services to homeless citizens

Governor Abigail Spanberger today announced $14 million in the Virginia Housing Trust Fund Homeless Reduction Grants for 61 projects across the Commonwealth. The funding will advance efforts to reduce homelessness for individuals and families through 19 permanent supportive housing projects, 29 rapid rehousing projects and 13 innovation projects for underserved populations.

Advancing regional economic growth and workforce opportunity

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced $6.2 million in Growth and Opportunity for Virginia (GO Virginia) grants for 10 projects that advance Virginia's economic competitiveness through innovation, workforce development, and strategic industry growth. The awarded projects will leverage an additional $4 million in investment.  

Funding leverages $974 million in additional public and private sector resources to support new construction and rehabilitation of over 3,000 affordable and special needs housing units

Governor Glenn Youngkin announced today a record-breaking $154.5 million in Affordable and Special Needs Housing (ASNH) loans for 47 projects across the Commonwealth. The recommended projects will create and preserve 3,014 homes for low-income households.
