Event Description

The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development is now accepting applications for the Virginia Eviction Reduction Pilot (VERP) Planning Grant.

In 2020, the General Assembly allocated $3.3 million for the VERP program. DHCD will allocate $400,000 of these funds to aid localities and nonprofits to better understand their community’s eviction prevention needs and to build capacity to mitigate evictions from June 15-Oct. 31, 2021.

DHCD is seeking applicants whose combination of experience and expertise will build eviction prevention and diversion capacity in their communities.

Proposals must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. on May 26, 2021.

Applications must be submitted through DHCD's Centralized Application and Management System (CAMS). Please closely review the VERP Planning Grant Guidelines and Application Instructions for additional details.

DHCD will be offering two how-to-apply webinars on Monday, May 4 at 2 p.m. and Tuesday, May 5 at 2 p.m.

At least one representative of the organization is encouraged to attend one of two how-to-apply webinars. DHCD will only fund one planning grant per community, so the webinars will be an opportunity for interested applicants to learn if others in their communities are interested in applying, as well.
