The Essential Home and Accessibility Repair Program (EHARP) provides funds to remove essential health and safety hazards. It also address physical accessibility barriers for low-income Virginias. The program provides funding to local administrators to undertake physical repairs that improve housing conditions. Eligible repairs can include plumbing, structural, electrical and roofing, as well as the installation of wheelchair ramps and other accessibility modifications.

EHARP is NOT AVAILABLE in the following communities: Cities: Alexandria, Bristol, Charlottesville, Chesapeake, Colonial Heights, Danville, Fairfax, Falls Church, Fredericksburg, Hampton, Harrisonburg, Hopewell, Lynchburg, Manassas, Manassas Park, Newport News, Norfolk, Petersburg, Portsmouth, Richmond, Roanoke, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Winchester Counties: Arlington, Chesterfield, Fairfax, Henrico, Loudoun, Prince William. These communities are federally designated Entitlement Jurisdictions. DHCD recommends persons in these communities reach out to their local city or county government to inquire about their entitlement grant programs.
