Awards included two gold and one bronze recipient recognition

The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development received three distinguished awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for its 2022 Excellence Awards at the recent IEDC Annual Conference. The awards honor organizations for exemplary economic development marketing campaigns, projects and programs. Virginia was recognized for the Community Business Launch, Industrial Revitalization Fund and Growth and Opportunity for Virginia (GO Virginia).  

Four projects will expand talent pipelines and foster entrepreneurial ecosystems

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced more than $1.2 million in Growth and Opportunity for Virginia (GO Virginia) grant awards for four projects focused on innovative workforce development initiatives designed to expand talent pipelines in technology sectors, as well as foster entrepreneurial startups, business development and venture investment.

Funding will support new construction and rehabilitation of over 1,900 affordable and special needs housing units

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced more than $27 million in Affordable and Special Needs Housing loans for 34 projects across the Commonwealth. The recommended projects will create and preserve 1,990 total units for low-income and extremely low-income households, including 137 permanent supportive housing, 1,588 new construction units, and 16 units for sale as homeownership opportunities.
 

Go Virginia grants will support regional economic growth

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced more than $10.2 million in Growth and Opportunity for Virginia (GO Virginia) grant awards for 13 projects focused on expanding talent pipelines in key industries, strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems, and developing business-ready sites while supporting regional economic growth through localities, public entities and private businesses.

Grants will support job creation, infrastructure improvements, and workforce training

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced that he is recommending 18 projects for funding by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), totaling $8.6 million in grants. Virginia's Appalachian region encompasses 25 counties and eight independent cities. ARC will finalize approval of these project awards later this year.

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced more than $1,261,859 in Growth and Opportunity for Virginia (GO Virginia) grant awards for eight projects focused on creating critical talent pipelines to support regional economic growth, strengthen workforce development and support collaborative programs between localities, public entities and private businesses.

The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) announced today that it is closing the Virginia Rent Relief Program (RRP) application portal at 11:59 p.m., May 15, 2022, to new applications.

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced $5,482,330 in Growth and Opportunity for Virginia (GO Virginia) grant awards for two projects focused on creating a critical talent pipeline to support the emerging advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and expanding middle-mile broadband infrastructure to increase access and service quality to existing industry, as well as key economic development sites. 

"Funding will assist targeted efforts to reduce homelessness in over 100 communities"

 Governor Ralph Northam today announced more than $8.2 million in Virginia Housing Trust Fund Homeless Reduction Grants for 46 projects throughout the Commonwealth. The funding will advance 100 targeted efforts to reduce homelessness, which include rapid re-housing, permanent supportive housing for the chronically homeless, and underserved population innovation projects.

Virginia Small Business Resiliency Fund will provide financial assistance to organizations that serve underserved, COVID-19 impacted business

Governor Ralph Northam today announced the launch of the new Virginia Small Business Resiliency Fund program and more than $9.7 million in grants has been awarded for 12 projects throughout the Commonwealth. The funding will assist organizations to create programs and products that will expand access to capital and provide technical assistance for COVID-19 impacted small businesses.
