Governor Youngkin Recommends 16 Projects for Appalachian Regional Commission Funding, Totaling $7.3 Million

Grants will support efforts to create jobs, improve infrastructure, and provide workforce training in Virginia's Appalachian Region

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced that he is recommending 16 projects for funding by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), totaling $7.3 million in grants. Virginia's Appalachian region encompasses 25 counties and eight independent cities. ARC will finalize approval of these project awards later this year.

Investment will support community revitalization, industrial site development, childcare center and workforce development

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced $8,250,000 in four Industrial Revitalization Fund (IRF) grants for the city of Staunton and the towns of Abingdon, Bluefield and Cape Charles grants to provide gap financing for construction projects aligned with local and regional economic development strategies. The four awarded projects will create over 125 jobs and leverage an additional $20 million in public and private investment.

The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) announced today the launch of the statewide Digital Opportunity Survey to provide supplementary data to the development of the Virginia Digital Opportunity Plan. Governor Youngkin Announces $1.5 Million in Grants Through the Port Host Community Revitalization Fund

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced $1.5 million in Port Host Communities Revitalization Fund awards for the cities of Newport News, Norfolk and Portsmouth in advance of his international trade mission to Taiwan, Japan and South Korea where he will discuss Virginia's expansive and growing port capabilities with key industry leaders. The three grants will redevelop a world-class maritime operations and logistics center in Norfolk, a bulkhead replacement project in Portsmouth and the rehabilitation of a waterfront industrial property in Newport News.
