Funding will support creating and expanding small businesses, revitalizing downtown districts and filling vacant storefronts

Governor Glenn Youngkin announced today over $690,000 in Virginia Main Street (VMS) and Community Business Launch (CBL) grants for 16 projects across the Commonwealth. The funded projects will revitalize historic commercial districts and create and expand small businesses.  

Funding will support community development financial institutions, small businesses and revitalization projects

Governor Glenn Youngkin announced today $1.3 million in grants for seven projects through the Commonwealth's Capital for Communities Fund (CCCF). The projects will expand lending to communities lacking banking options across the Commonwealth while providing technical assistance to future borrows for business ventures. 

The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has developed a draft application for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)'s Preservation and Reinvestment Initiative for Community Enhancement (PRICE) Grant. The PRICE grant is intended to preserve long-term housing affordability for residents of manufactured housing or manufactured housing communities, to redevelop manufactured housing communities, and to primarily benefit low- and moderate-income (LMI) residents.

Grants will support efforts to create jobs, improve infrastructure, and provide affordable housing

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced that he is recommending four projects for funding by the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission (SCRC), totaling $1.5 million in grants. SCRC will finalize approval of these project awards later this year. 
 

Funding will support redevelopment projects in port host communities of Newport News and Norfolk 

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced $1.5 million in Port Host Communities Revitalization Fund (PHCRF) awards for the cities of Newport News and Norfolk. The two grants will redevelop the 39-acre Seafood Industrial Park dock in the city of Newport News and renovate the historic Riverview Theater in the city of Norfolk.  

Investment will support community revitalization, industrial site development, and workforce development

Funding will support new construction and rehabilitation of over 5,358 affordable and special needs housing units

Governor Glenn Youngkin announced today more than $129 million in Affordable and Special Needs Housing loans for 78 projects across the Commonwealth. The recommended projects will create and preserve 5,358 total units for low-income and extremely low-income households.  

Funding will support revitalization of derelict structures into mixed-use developments

Governor Glenn Youngkin announced today $1.5 million in Mixed Use on Main Street (MUMS) funding for three projects located in the city of Hopewell and the towns of Marion and Pulaski. The projects will transform a vacant property located in Hopewell's Downtown Historic District, add eight market rate apartments in Pulaski and renovate the Gospel Armory and Past Time Antique buildings into 12 apartments and two retail spaces in the town of Marion.

Funding will support rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, and support services to underserved populations in 109 localities

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced $12 million in the Virginia Housing Trust Fund Homeless Reduction Grants for 55 projects across the Commonwealth. The funding will advance targeted efforts to reduce homelessness with 2,177 individuals and families. 

Funding will support housing rehabilitation, water and sewer improvements, and community service facility enhancements

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced more than $18 million in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) for 16 projects across the Commonwealth. The funding will support projects that rehabilitate housing, revitalize downtown districts, improve water and sewer infrastructure and provide dental facilities for needed services, benefiting more than 2,800 low- and moderate-income Virginians.
